Scott Morrison, Jason Stevens and Danna Vale with young Shire residentsThe Shire's First Ever
Y2020+ Youth Summit

On July 16 Local Federal Member for Cook Scott Morrison and Member for Hughes Danna Vale hosted the Shire Y2020+ Youth Summit which brought young people from all over the Shire together to discuss the future of the Shire and the nation.

Delegates discussed topics, ranging from environmental issues such as climate change to education, social harmony and family and community relationships.

After much vigorous and intelligent debate delegates were asked to come up with suggestions on how to act on five areas that posed challenges for the future. These five areas were Australia's role in the world, the environment, living together, threats to community and local facilities and services.

You can see the proposals by visiting the summit proposals page.

The Federal Member for Cook Scott Morrison MP and Federal Member for Hughes Danna Vale MP will present the summit's proposals to Minister for Youth Kate Ellis in Canberra later this year.

Also be sure to check out the summit videos & photos from the day.
